Meets Grant, ILS.A., In Fourth Round (Received 2 p.m.) LONDON, June 24. Among those to reach the last 16 in the men’s singles at the British lawn tennis championship at Wimbledon are A. G, Stedman and two Australians, McGrath and Crawford. The last-named had eliminated a “seeded” player, R. Menzel (Czechoslovakia) in the first round. The New Zealanders meet M. B.» Grant, the United States Davis Cup player, in the fourth round. Today’s results:— Men’s Singles, Third round; Stedman (New Zealand) beat Bernard (France): 6—4, 6—2, 6—3; Grant beat Avory (Britain): 6-1-3, 6—4, 2—6, 6—2; McGrath beat Pallada: 4—6, 6—3, 7—5, 6—2; Crawford beat Kukuljevic: 6—3, 6—2, 10—8; Austin beat Bromwich: 6 —2, 4—6, 6 —o, B—6;8 —6; von Cramm beat Yamagishi; 6 —4, 6—4, 3—6, 6—l; La Croix beat Lee: 4 —6, 6—4, 6—2, 6 —4; Henkel beat Tuncec: 6—2, 6 —2, 6 —l; Budge beat Bossus: 6—l, 6—4, 6—2; Hare beat Fannin: 6—l, 6—o, 10—8.
