BROADCAST THRILLS

•, , ~ WHAT NORTHERNERS THOUGHT THE FUTURE OF RADIO ; ■ ..... i- • What thrills there were for Young Northlanders on Tuesday last. Their very own broadcast came over the air from IYA. Of course, they knew that Mr. Dennehy and Kupe had a big hand in preparing it. They 1 knew that it dealt with calf clubs and sweet pea clubs, the activities in which they have been so interested for the past four years. Indeed there was so much Northland in the whole address, that they couldn’t help but feel proud that they had so much to do with the whole affair. Perhaps it wasn’t the familiar voice of Mr. Dennehy that came through the microphone, but Mr. Gillies seemed so friendly and Enthusiastic that he did just as well. So good has been the team work, that it will surely he an inspiration to all those who have lagged behind to club activities—after hearing the broadcast of Tuesday last, any school without a club will feel that it is definitely behind the times. That the broadcast inspired the formation of at least one new club, 1 can say with certainty, and goodness knows how many other clubs are, to the making. Many, we hope. If this is so, Mr. Gillies, Mr. Dennehy and I will ask no further reward for our labours. We know the good times you can have. If we have added other young people to the vast arriiy of happy club-ites, then our work has been well and truly done. The broadcast "went over” well. Just listen to the opinions already given.
