the breakfast interval were Round Up, Inver, Anion, Thurwind, War Picture and Gai Win’d. Gay Talkie did steady wotk. It has not been definitely decided as to whether he will start at Avondale on Saturday. No rider has yet been engaged for him. After breakfast, Royal Passage and Professional ran six furlongs in 1.16 4-5, Survoy taking a second longer for the same distance. Saccone and Lad Up traversed half a mile in 525, both working well. They were together at the finish. Ivy Willonyx and Inquisitor ran six furlongs in 1.21. He will be ridden by R. Jones on Saturday. Romani and Palustre, and Lapii darian went away from a barrier start at the five furlong post, Palustre being half a length in front of Romani at the end in 1.3, with Lapidarian several lengths back. The first-named pdir pleased by their efforts. Riding- Engagements. The following riding engagements are announced for the Avondale meeting:— H. Goldfinch: Paso Robles, Tray Bit, King Theo, Whakapara. A. Tinker: Palustre,. W. J. Broughton: Romani, Raepata. L. Clifford: Saccone. H. Long: Lapidarian. R. Jones: Inquisitor.
