ITALIANS EXPELLED FROM ETHIOPIA
Viceroy’s Action Following February Massacre (Received 2.30 p.m.) /■ LONDON, March 29. ' “The Times”, says that, owing to participation in the massacre in Addis Ababa on February 23, Marshal Graziani, the Viceroy, has expelled 1 from Abyssinia over 200 Italians of Various ranks in the army and labour ■ Corps. " . It was not until 48 hours after the reprisals that Marshal Graziani had heard of i the slaughter, as he had been i in the hands of doctors who ‘had been to his wounds. He is still in hospital, having severed an artery behind the knee, sustained when a bomb was thrown at the official Italian party. ; Further details of the reprisals show that the Italians’ indiscriminate firing killed som,e of their own countrymen. It is also learned that Joseph Benjamin Martin, son of Dr. Martin, Abyssinian Minister to London, was executed on a charge of complicity in the attack on Marshal “The Times” adds: “The destruction by fire after the massacre was extensive. Meanwhile, as a result of ; recent events, Abyssinian foreign trade has almost ceased. '“British, Indian and. Belgian firms have closed down. Italians are aiming to eliminate non-Italian houses.”
