Mission Concludes.

The three weeks mission conducted by Mr Hinrichson at the Church of Christ, Maunu Road, concluded on Sunday evening. There was a very large congregation, extra seating being required. .The thanksoffering was of a substantial nature. Woman Falls and Breaks Arm. When she slipped and fell off a log over which she was walking to cross a stream yesterday. Mrs Bowyer, of Wolfe Street, fractured her left forearm. She was admitted to the Whahgarei Hospital and her condition today is good*

Whangarei’s Heat Wave. Whangarei, after experiencing on Sunday, one of the hottest days since summer started, sweltered again yesterday, the thermometer-, again reaching 80 .degrees. Although, the day was fine, with sunshine, the heat was humid and oppressive. At the Town Wharf there were swimmers, throughout. the day, even when the -tide was low, and Mair Park was also- very popular. Today the heat was still intense. Mangawai Sports. Of great interest to athletes and axemen a fine programme of events is advertised in this issue by the Mangawai Athletic Club. Four chopping events are featured, each carrying excellent prize money, and there are 12 track and field events well worthy of keen support. The race track has , been graded by a power grader and is in first-class condition. Entries close on Thursday, April 1, and those interested should get in touch with the secretary, Mr. F. Jackson, ’phone 9S, Mangawai. Keep April 10 free for the Mangawai Sports. 788 The postponed meeting of the Donnelly’s Crossing Athletic Club is- to take place on Saturday next, April 3. Nominations close with the secretary, Mr N. Parsons, on Thursday, April Ist.
