FOREST OF STEEL SPREADS OVER EUROPE
GERMANY’S INTENSE MILITARY EFFORT (Received 1 p.m.) PARIS, December 17. M. Mistier, president of the Foreign Affairs Committee, addressing French members of Parliament, declared that Germany was making intense military efforts. She had established a wartime economy in peacetime as though she wanted to be ready shortly. “Perhaps she has not yet taken a decision and fixed a date,” he said, “but we cannot be blind to the evidence.” M. Daladier, Minister of Defence, declared that a forest of steel was spreading over Europe. The world spent over £2,000,000,000 in 1936. The meeting passed a resolution approving M. Blum’s foreign policy.
