CLOSE FINISH TO MINIATURE T. T.

The miniature T.T. for motor cyclists resulted;— A. Walker (Velocette) 1; W. Slako (Ariel) 2; S. Edmonds (Norton) 3; P. Newton (Enfield) 4. Also started; P. Grogan Velocette), W. Peihopa (Enfield), A. Langley (Enfield) and P. Tennant (James). Time: 4m. , 40s. This event gave the spectators one of the best thrills of the day. Competitors followed the racecourse proper for most of the distance, but were required to cut across country at the back of the horse ring, and then into the'course again, near the hill at the back of the ground. Grogan got • away to a flying start, but overran the turn into the paddock, and Slako went to the front. With the first lap gone Slako held a slight lead from Walker, with the remainder of the field tailing out. Then ensued a ding-dong struggle between Slako and Walker, ea,ch alternately nosing in front. Walker was the first to turn for home, but at the top of the straight Slako passed him. Walker, however, had reserved a final sprint, and, openings the throttle wide out, he flashed ahead 100 yards from the judge, to win by about four lengths. Edmonds, who had also ridden a good race, was next, followed by Newton, several lengths behind him. Grogan and Peihopa, who had both overrun the turn, were well back.
