BRITISH BAN ON WORKERS’ LEADER

(Received 10 a.m.) LONDON, October 24.

When Senor J. G. Gorkin, Catalan Parliamentary leader of the Spanish Workers’ Party, arrived at Croydon, to address a meeting in London on Monday, the immigration authorities refused permission for him and two companions to remain in Britain. The general secretary of the Independent Labour Party, Mr. Fenner Brockway, was informed by telephone and communicated with the Home Office. He was told by Sir John Simon, Home Secretary, not to interfere.

Mr. Brockway states that at the meeting he will make a protest against the banning of Senor Gorkin, which proves that the Government’s sympathy is against the workers.

< Senor Gorkin and his companions left for Paris by air.
