MID WESTERN COMPETITION At the conclusion of the first round in the Mid-Western cricket competition, Tauraroa is the only undefeated team, with nine points. Next in order come; Maungakaramea (6 points), Mangapai (3), and Puwera (0).

On Saturday, Puwera made 51 (Newton 30) and 49 (J. Lord 11 not out); Karamea declaring with 3 down for 140 (Matthews 55 not out, Child 41, Crawford 10, Dahl 10). The Puwera wickets were divided between Child, Attwood and Dahl.

Tauraroa also gained an outright win. Mangapai made 49 and 50 for 7, declared. Tauraroa replied with 51, and hit off the necessary runs for the loss of four wickets ( Quinn 17).
