By a majority of one vote, six to five, Mr T. U. Wells was re-elected chairman of the Auckland Education Board this morning.

Dr. H. Warren Young, who has been in practice in Whangarei for some months, leaves tomorrow morning, in company with Mrs Young and their family, for Papakura, where he will practise in future.

At the conclusion of the Kamo Sunday School on Sunday, occasion was taken for the children to bid farewell to Miss Wootten, who is leaving the district on transfer to Bombay. Mrs Mclnnes, in making a presentation from the scholars, spoke of the great interest Miss Wootten had taken in the school, and the difficulty there would be to fill her place.

At the meeting of the Auckland Education Board this morning the following appointments of teachers in Northland were authorised:—Mr J. F. Crocker, Rawene District High School (head teacher); Mr I. J. Mackie, Hoteo North (sole teacher); Miss C. K. C. MacKenzie, Maungatapere (assistant mistress).

For the past week, Dr. Weston A. Price, Director of the Dental Research Institute of Cleveland, U.S.A., one of the leading anthropologists of the world, who is conducting investigation and research work throughout New Zealand, has been touring Northland. He has been accompanied by Mrs Price, Mr J. L. Saunders, Director of Dental Hygiene for New Zealand, and Dr. Martin Tweed, medical adviser to the New Zealand Plunket Society. Dr. Price has visited many Native schools in the North and examined the teeth of the Native children. Dr. Price and party, who have been accompanied on their Northern tour by Dr. Duncan Cook, medical officer for Northland, will return to Whangarei tomorrow, continuing their journey to Auckland the following day.
