Tuesday night was memorable to tiie residents of this valley. A large happy social gathering was held in the school under the leadership of Miss McDonald, .'|For the ladies, Mrs G. Martin scored first honours. While Mr G. Martin took j Home the consolation cup. For the 1 men,. Mr Cyril Martin _ came first, with consolation for Mr D. Henry. A fiappy quartette of spinsters acted as hostesses, namely, Misses McDonald, Tate, Henry and Whimp. Mr and Mrs Claris, of Marua, after a pleasant fortnight’s holiday spent in the' Auckland district, are arriving home this week. Mr and Mrs McDonald, Junr., of Ptikurangi, are removing to Marua, where Mr McDonald is joining the staff of his father on their station. ; Mr Stanley Williams, son of Mr and Mrs Williams, of the Marua post office, who has been Working in Whangarei, has been in hospital for appendicitis, but is now recuperating. - Mrs McPhee, of Marua, who has enjoyed a prolonged holiday with her Son in Auckland, has returned home looking well after her big change. .Mrs McDonald, of Marua, is leaving for an extended holiday in Auckland, I 1 where she will be the guest, of her { married daughter. •
