EX-SERVICEMEN’S ANNUAL BALL,
The ex-servicemen of Waipu held their annual ball in the Waipu Hall on Tuesday evening. The hall was beautifully decorated. The Grand March, headed by Pipers McGregor and McLean, and led by Mr H. E. Hewlett and Mrs' F. C. Middleton, was a very pleasing sight. Colonel Lang acted as M.C., and novelty-dances were won by Miss M. McKenzie and Mrs V. Russell and partners. Amongst those present were Mesdames W. Lang, black satin; I. Middleton, green lace, cherry trimmings; J. Kay, saxe blue panne velvet; W. Muller, floral silk; G. Sutherland, black sequinned net; W. Griffin, oyster satin, scarlet trimmings; D. Nesbitt, scarlet georgette; D. N. McKay, cherry flat crepe; J. C. McKay, violet taffeta; A. Brooks, scarlet piarocain; A. Russell, ruby velvet; J. Sloan, prune velvet, R. Russell, powder blue velvet; N. Russell (Napier), pink velvet; H. T. Gardner, blue lace; S. Mcßae, green organdie; J. Garland, white organdie; K. Cooper, black Mace; W. Reed, daffodil crepe de chine; T. Mcßae, blue marocain; F. McLean, floraF georgette; J. W. Durham, navy . and white spotted silk; N. McMillan, navy with fawn trimming; and Misses'B. At the request of the Waipu Oddfellows’ Lodge, the Whangarei Orphans Club brought a concert party, under the leadership of -Mr F. Argyle, to Waipu to raise funds for the Whangarei St. John Ambulance. A very bright and interesting programme was presented and much enjoyed by all present.
