PAPAROA

In spite of the boisterous weather, the flag five hundred took place in the Public Hall, most people turning up to enjoy«the evening’s play. The winners were as follows:—Mrs Wilson, Miss Wilson and Mr Harris (all of Ruawai). The consolations went to Miss Thelma Morris, Miss Betty Cartwright and Mr Johnnie Dick. The card tables were cleared and supper served, after which dancing took place. The winners for the Monte Carlo waltz were Mr and Mrs Arthur Ball (Matakohe). The school children visited Matakohe School and played friendly games of football and basketball, with the following results:—Basketball, Ararua 2, Matakohe 11. Miss Bryers refereed. Football: Ararua 14, Matakohe 11. Mr Julian refereed.
