CIVIC LEAGUE
The annual meeting of the Whangarei Women’s Civic League was held in the supper room of the Town Hall on June 10. There was a fair attendance of members, over whom the president, Mrs Evans, presided. After the general business, the president’s report on the year’s work was received and adopted. The hon. treasurer’s report, which disclosed a satisfactory credit balance, was also adopted. The election of officers resulted: — President, Mrs W. J. Dawson; 4 vicepresidents, Mrs W. Jones and Mrs L. J. Brake; hon. secretary, .Mrs Potts; hon. treasurer, Mrs Allan (re-elected); committee, Mesdames Cleaver, Hore, Mcßeth, Blackburn, Reed, R. Tudehope, Grant and Foster and Misses H. and G. Jones. On the motion of Mrs Jones, a vote of thanks was accorded to the retiring president, Mrs Evans, who had not sought re-election. The retiring secretary. Miss Jones, also declined re-nomination.
A dainty supper was served, and a very enjoyable meeting terminated.
