MANGAPAI SCORE WELL | Mangapai had no difficulty in accounting for Whangarei by 7 goals to 1 at Kensington Park. Goals were scored by Byles (3), McAllister (2) and Massey (2) for the winners, and by Sloane for Whangarei.
At half time Mangapai led by 3 goals to nil. Messrs P. Campbell and Batchelor refereed. MATA BEAT RAMBLERS A good game of hockey was played between Ramblers and Mata at Springfield. From the bully-off both teams played well, and each was out to win. I Mata did most of the pressing, and after ten minutes’ play, L. Price netted their first goal.—Mata 1, Ramblers 0. Play was very fast till half-time, both sides putting in good work, and just before the interval E. Brake put a good shot in for Mata. Mata 2, Ramblers 0. The second half was very even, each side getting in some good passing runs. Franklin, for Ramblers, made several good saves in goal, and was doing splendid work. P. Price and W. Johns, in the half-backs, were outstanding for Mata. The final score was—Mata 2, Ramblers 0. P. Whittle and J. Miller refereed. 1
