STOCK EXCHANGE
BUSINESS RATHER QUIET
[Special to “Northern Advocate.”] AUCKLAND, This Day.
Business on the Auckland Stock Exchange has been rather quiet over the past 24 hours. At this morning’s call business was scarcely so keen as it has been. In the banking section Commercials was the only firm line, being quoted between £1 0/5 and £1 0/6. New South Wales were steady qt £34 10/to £34 17/6. New ZeaFands were weak, with best buyers at £2 5/-, and fhere were no offers. for Reserves.
The insurance section was dull, with no buyers for Dominion issues. Auckland Gas shares were easier, with a market between £1 5/4 and.£l 5/8, and Roller Mills were also easy, being quoted from £1 4/6 to £1 6/6. There was a good demand for Government stocks, and late rates were easily maintained. Woolworths (Sydney) continued to soar, and were quoted from £6 13/6 to £6 15/-.
At the noon call easing in Auckland Gas shares was confirmed, with a sale 4d lower at £1 5/4. Weakness in Bank of New Zealands persisted, and sellers dropped to last night’s sale price of , £2 6/6, without leading to business. : t '
