NORTH AUCKLAND POWER BOARD
DECISIONS AT YESTERDAY’S MEETING

Mr J. A. McLean presided over the monthly meeting of the North Auckland Electric Power Board at Dargaville yesterday. After a short discussion, Mr A. P. Morgan, of Whangarei, was appointed architect to the board.
The tender of the Vickery Electrical Company, Wellington, of £1670 for the supply of ironwork for poles was accepted, the engineer being given authority to purchase several items from Messrs Hall Bros’ tender.
Mr T. R. Overton, the engineer, re- j ported that Mr Morgan had prepared i plans and specifications for the erec- j ticn of depot buildings, and two cot- j tages in Dargaville and would be j ready to call tenders for the work j within a week or two. Mr Overton j was given authority to call for tend- j ers and the acceptance of the neces- j sary tender was left, after a short dis- j ci’ssicn, in the hands of the local j committee. I Messrs Winstone Ltd., advised that IT *k poles are being shipped ftom Australia on February 13. The I ordering of copper wire and insulators j was left in the hands of the chairman, ! engineer and secretary to finalise. j Mr Overton reported that difficulty j was being experienced in securing a j suitable trailer for a heavy truck, ow- i ing to county restrictions on loading j and he was given authority to call j tenders for the purchase of two 20-30 i cwt. trucks. ■ Material for the construction of con- i crete poles would arrive in Paparoa at I (he end of February. Mr Overfon was authorised to pur- j chase suitable metal, and to call for ! tenders for the manufacture of 1000 | concrete poles, should the need arise, j At his request, the engineer was em- j pow ered to secure 250 silver pine poles { from the main trunk as, on account j of their light weight, they could easily : he snigged into awkward positions. j
