HEAVY SNOWFALL IN BRITAIN

[British Official Wireless.l (Received 10 a.m.) RUGBY, January 16. Snow fell over most of the country today and covered practically the whole of Britain north of a line from Cardiff to Lincoln. In many parts frozen snow made road conditions dangerous, electioneering in Ross and Cromarty in the north of Scotland being interfered with by the [ snow. I A snow plough had to be sent yesterday to the rescue of one of the prospective candidates, who was cut off from fulfilling his engagement. Six inches of snow lie in the Welsh passes. The Mersey side experienced the heaviest fall for years, and there is snow several inches deep in Liverpool. North Yorkshire was swept. Snow also fell in London today, but it has already thawed.
