WEST AUSTRALIAN MINE | MANAGER. i | A recent number of the "Western j Mail” records the death at Kalgoorlie, j of Mr D. F. McAulay, for many years general manager of the Associated mine on the Golden Mile. Mr McAulay was a son' of the late Mr Alex McAulay, of Waipu. having been born in 1866. In his young days he worked in the kauri bush on the Northern Wairoa and Thames, and at the age of 21 joined the gold rush to Australia. He arrived in Western Australia to join the staff of Bewick, Moreing and Company from 1895 to 1902. later becoming manager of the Peak Hill mine in Western Australia, and of Cobar mine in New South Wales. Only a few weeks ago he was asked to report on a number of leases on the Golden Mile over which the Britannia Trust Ltd., of London, had taken an option. He left a widow and two children.
