Bradman made 229 not out and Parker 63. Bradman’s display, although more restrained than usual, delighted the crowd. Badcock was unable to play for South Australia, owing to a hand injury. Ebeling, the Victorian captain, after bowling four overs, left the field with a .torn muscle in the back.

South Australia’s first innings closed today for 568. Bradman raised his individual total to 357, and Collins made 37 not out. Bradman batted in dashing style, pulling, hooking and back-cutting. He broke Ponsford’s record of 336 for the biggest individual score in matches between Victoria and South Australia. Bradman’s great innings included 40 fours. It was a chanceless display, and occupied 421 minutes. Victoria, in the first innings, lost three wickets for 124. Quinn made 52 and Lee 50. Bradman’s 357 for South Australia against Victoria is the highest ever made against that State. He is the only batsmen to make over 300 five times. He has now reached the double century on 23 occasions, equalling W. Hammond’s record, and has scored 54 centuries in first-class cricket, the only Australian ahead being Bardsley, with 56, MATCH AT SYDNEY,

In a Sheffield Shield cricket match against Queensland at Sydney yesterday. New South Wales made 336 in the first innings (Mudge 94,,Robinson 67, McGillvray 62). Gilbert took 2 wickets for 98 runs; Cooke, 4 for 101; Wyeth, 2 for 73; Allen, 1 for 41. 'Robinson batted brilliantly, scoring his runs in 68 minutes.
