THREE OUTRIGHT WINS
COLLAPSES AMONG JUNIORS Three outright wins were registered in the four junior games. The greasy conditions upset some teams more than others, but it was generally superior batting which brought the maximums. , Portland downed Kamo very decisively on the former’s ground, Maungatapere disposed of Unemployed, and Albion outclassed Services B. The weather played a decided part in the opening games of the Auckland Cricket Association's senior championship, which was concluded on Saturday, after being started last week in ideal batting conditions. Parnell, 129 (Vivian 73—Simpson, 7 for 37). failed badly against North Shore, 332. Following on. Parnell lost 5 for 35. King’s Old Boys. 18(5 (Pearson 55 Burke 8 for 63), went down gallantly before Grafton, 279. Against Eden's score of 304, University battled hard for a draw, but were all out for 221 (Jessup 57 —Townsend. 4 for 66). Ponsonby pulled the game out of the fire against Y.M.C.A.,’ who had scored 182 the previous Saturday. By careful cricket, Ponsonby reached 195 (Stallworthy 51, Cotterall 48).
