“CAN'T GET GIRLS”

FACTORY SHORTAGE , NAPIER, This Day. Girls are very hard indeed to find in Napier. This applies, at air events, to girls who could be given work in factories. The utmost difficulty is being experienced in the city in securing the services of sufficient girls to handle orders which were being received.

As a rule .there is not the slightest difficulty in getting girls for factory work. An advertisement that girl workers are required is sufficient to send a whole queue of applicants to the factory. This last few weeks, however, something seems to have gone wrong, with the result that it is impossible to get girls at all. A business man stated that this did not apply to one or two factories, but to nearly all the factories, which are at present working at high pressure to cope with the orders received.
