DOMESTIC TRAGEDY
WIFE DIES IN HOSPITAL HUSBAND BELIEVED DROWNED FOUR CHILDREN ORPHANED (Received 9 a.m.) LONDON. October 24. The wife of Captain Patterson, of the Vardulia, the Donaldson Line steamer which was abandoned by the crew 600 miles north-west of the Hebrides on October 21, died in a hospital in Glasgow in ignorance of the fact that her husband was missing. Four children, the youngest of whom is two years old, and the eldest 14, are feared to be fatherless as well as motherless.
