NO NEW POLICY
AMERICA AND SANCTIONS (Received 10 a.m.) WASHINGTON, October 24. President Roosevelt today conferred with the Secretary of State, Mr Cordell Hull, and drafted the lines of the United States’ Government reply to the Teague’s inquiry as to America’s position concerning sanctions. It is stated that the decision was to confine the reply to a statement of the steps the United States Government already has taken, and, unless there are last-minute changes, no new policy will be projected. ’ Also it is intended not to comment either way on the action taken by the League, as the United States Government intends to act independently, and to retain freedom of action.
