When he attempted to proceed the engine stalled, and could not be restarted with the self-starter. As the vehicle was on the tramline and obstructing the traffic, two bystanders agreed to “give a push.” They pushed before the driver was in his seat, and, getting on the grade of Willis Street, the car ran away with the driver standing on the running board, steering as best he could and attempting to reach the handbrake. The car gathered speed as it ran down the street, and did not come to rest until it had mounted the footpath. -
