OHAEAWAI CLUE,

The annual general meeting of the Ohaeawai Tennis Club was held in the Soldiers’ Club rooms on Friday last. The election of officers resulted: —President, Mr Stuart; secretary, Mr Gibbons; club captain, Mrs Hargraves; committee, Miss Vaughan, Messrs. Dickson, Murray, E. Baldwin. It was decided to repair the court, which was recently taken up. A work-., ing bee for this purpose will be held during the coming,; week-end. MAUNGATAJPEKE CLUB.

A brilliant day arid record attendance marked the opening of the Maungatapere Tennis Glub, there being over seventy friends and members present. At 3, o’clock, Mr Meiklejohn, president, in a happy little speech, welcomed all visitors, and also new members. ' He then declared the courts open.

Afternoon tea was served, the Rishworth Shield, ■ which the club had drawn, having a conspicuous place on the table, standing between two handsome silver cups, presented by Mr and Mrs E. G. Walker for the ladies and men’s handicap singles competition respectively. .

After an enthusiastic opening, the club looks forward to a successful season.
