VALUELESS CHEQUES
OLD OFFENDER GAOLED. [Per Press Association.—Copyright.] WELLINGTON, This Day. In the Police Court yesterday, Douglas Arthur Fletcher Brewer pleaded guilty to two charges of issuing valueless cheques, and was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment. The police statement showed that he was an old offender. The local bank would not allow him to open an account, so he got a man to open one for him under the name of “Stephens.”
