INDIA APPROVES TARRANT’S TEAM
(Received 10 a.m.) CALCUTTA, August 11. The Indian Cricket Board of Control, at a meeting at Bombay, decided to approve the suggested personnel and visit of the Australian team selected by Tarrant. The Bengal Association has asked for a smaller guarantee to be fixed for the Australian matches. Mr Frank Tarrant, in expressing his satisfaction that the Indian Board of Control has accepted his team, said: “I am taking a jolly strong team—evidently far stronger than India suspects. When we get to Calcutta we will ‘give ’em socks.’ I will give £IOO to Indian charity if a Calcutta team beats mine.” Indian Tour of England, The Indian Board of Control has approved a programme for an Indian team’s tour of England in 1936. The Nawab of Pataudi probably will be captain, and also will captain in unofficial test matches.
