'FLU!
CHILDREN ATTACKED FEWER AT SCHOOL BED BEST PLACE [Special to " Northern Advocate."! AUCKLAND, This Day, Influenza is prevalent among school children in Auckland, and attendances at some of the schools have greatly fallen off as the result. In most instances the attacks are mild, the average child making a good recovery after four or five days’ treatment. Of course, in cases where the illness has become mere serious the progress is slower, and some children have been away for weeks. Doctors in Auckland blame the rapidly changing weather for the existing prevalence. Children, said a doctor, are more prone to attack by influenza in this sort of weather than when the conditions are more settled. I The importance of keeping children in bed for a sufficiently long period when | they are suffering from influenza is emphasised 1 by doctors. They say that some mothers are inclined to allow their children to leave their bed far too soon, with a result that their recopery is delayed. The flu has also been responsible toi numerous employees being kept away from work. In some instances, as many as 10 and 20 per cent, have been absent for a few days at a time. POSITION IN WHANGAREI. | NO SERIOUS CASES. The Whangarei High School attendance has not suffered through the presence of 'flu, and cases that have occurred have only kept one or two pupils away at one time.
