FAIR BUSINESS [Special to "Northern Advocate /’I AUCKLAND, This Day. Business on the Auckland Stock Exchange ’ maintains a satisfactory volume. Over the last 24 hours there has been freer offering of Government stocks, and these have been readily placed at late rates. The banking section is strong, and at this morning’s call Unions' were quoted between £9 9/- and £9 15/-, while Commercials sold 2d higher, at 17/8. ■ Broken Hills firmed up again, and, after a 1 sale at £3 8/3, the market lay between £3 8/- and £3 9/-. Waihis were quoted wide apart, holders asking £1 17/6, while buyers stepped at 1/6 less. Woolworth’s (Sydney) steadied after the lowest prices, and changed handis 3d lower, at £5 17/9, after which quotations ranged from- £5 15/- to £5 18/6. Auckland Gas shares were steady at yesterday’s lower level, with the market between £1 6/6 and £1 7/-. Insurance scrip was active at the noon call, and three transfers; were reported. Australian Provincials had a sale at 7d more than late values, after which buyers remained in at £1 2/-, but no sellers were available. Both New Zealand and: South British remained unaltered from, previous values in the sales list. Claude Neon (Sydney), which have been steadily advancing of late, had a sale at £2 13/-, an improvement of 4/-. In the hanking section, New Zealands increased slightly, with a sale 2d lower, at £2 11/8, after which holders asked Id more. Dominion Fertilisers were in keen demand, and touched a new high level, with a sale at £1 4/6, a rise of 1/6 within the last four weeks. Noon Call. The following. sales were recorded at the noon call: —Bank of New Zealand, £2 11/8; Australian Provincial Insurance, £1 2/7; New Zealand Insurance, £3 6/6; South British Insurance, £4 16/6; Claude 1 Necn (Sydney), £2 13/-; Consolidated Brick, £1 11/6; Dominion Fertiliser, £1 4/6; New Zealand Farmers’ Fertiliser, £1 0/3.
