Final News Flashes WAR IN SEPTEMBER.— According to Mr Chas. H. Barton, former missioner in Abyssinia, it is expected that the war will take place there as soon as the rainy season ends, about September 15. IVtr Barton stated in Auckland this afternoon that Italy would find Abyssinia ready. TASMAN CROSSING.—The Mariposa, which arrived in Sydney this morning, smashed the Tasman crossing record by an hour and a half. SKULL FRACTURED— Mr James Goodsall, aged 23, a member of the Oamaru Savage Club party on. a visit to Ashburton, slipped down a hotel staircase on Saturday night and fractured his skull. His condition is critical. ATLANTIC MYSTERY.—A message from Boston, Mass., states that one of the weirdest mysteries of the Atlantic is that of a man who, without a lifebelt and fully clothed, was found swimming 160 miles out at sea today by a fishing trawler. The swimmer fought attempted rescue. An aeroplane was despatched and brought him back to Boston. BODY IN HARBOUR.—A message from Wellington states that the body of a man about 60 years, not yet id'entifieef, has been found) floating in the harbour. The man was wearing a suit which was made at Auckland. The body had been in the water 44 hours. ' POLITICIAN RETIRES ‘Owing to ill-health, Mr P. A. de la Perrelle has decided not to contest the Awarua seat at the coming election. AUSTRALIAN TEAM FOR INDIA.— The Indian Cricket Board of Control at a meeting at Bombay, decided to approve the personnel and visit of the Australian team selected by Tarrant.
