NEW LEFT GROUP
BRITISH POLITICS LIBERAL-LABOUR MOVE. LLOYD GEORGE’S PLANS. [United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph. — Copyright .] LONDON, August 11. The political correspondent of the “Observer” predicts the formation of a new Left group within a fortnight, as a sequel to Mr Lloyd George attending a private luncheon tomorrow with Lord Allen. Sir Walter Layton and other signatories of his recently-issued bock, “The Next Five Years.” Sir Herbert. Samuel, who has repeatedly advocated greater unity among the progressive parties, will be present, thus showing that the coolness between him and Mr Lloyd George is ending. The luncheon party will discuss a deal with the Labour Party, proposing that Liberal candidates shall not fight the general election where they would damage Labour, which would be asked to make a reciprocal agreement. ■ Although Lord Allen’s group probably will mot join Mr Lloyd George, individuals may co-operate with him. It is significant that Mr George is to address trade union leaders next Wednesday.
