The possible entry of a seventh candidate for the Rotorua seat was mentioned on Saturday, when it was stated that Mr. M. H.- Hampson, of Auckland, might add to the list already announced. When the matter was mentioned to him, Mr. Hampson said that he had no comment to make. The six candidates previously announced *are Mr. C. H. Clinkard, the sitting member, who represents the Government; Mr. A. F. Moncur, Labour; Mr. D. R. Campbell, Country Party; Mr. P. Shine, Independent; Mr. H. H. Corbin, whose candidature was announced for the Auckland Branch of the Democrat Party; and Mr. W. W. Doidge, who has not announced any definite party affiliations. It was stated on Saturday that the first request to Mr. Corbin to stand in the interests of the Democrat parly came from Mr. C. J. Pirlane, general manager of the New Zealand Co-op. Dairy Co. Ltd. This was denied by Mr. Parlane, and it is now established that there was a misunderstanding, the request to Mr. Corbin having come from Mr. F. D. Parlane, of Rotorua.
