Yesterday 11 planes were • engaged, and on Saturday no fewer than 13 machines were occupied with the task of endeavouring to locate his Whereabouts. An immense amount of territory was covered on tne days mentioned, the country traversed being wild and rugged. On Saturday morning four planes made a close examination of the terri- ■. ' tory between Taupo and the Kaima- \ nawa ranges. During the afternoon r they were joined by four more ma•l chines. Remaining at Taupo overt night, the aeroplanes were taken out " in pairs shortly after dawn yesterday ' , morning, and covered the territory as | far as Mount Edgecumbe, near Te ■ I Tekb, Taihape and National Park. ■ r Early in the afternoon the weather ml became cloudy, and snow fell, so four lfl| of the machines returned to Hastings.
