SMOKING AMONG WOMEN
UNIVERSITY BAN.
STRETCHING DISCIPLINE,
[Per Press Association.—Copyright.] HAMILTON, This Day.
“Although I personally dislike smoking among normal women, I think it would be stretching university discipline to breaking point to make a general prohibition,” stated Mr F. A. de la Mare, one of the representatives of graduates On the University Senate, yesterday. However, he disagreed that the position regarding men and women was identical. The general problem of smoking was one of individual and racial health, and the effect Of smoking on those whose special duty it became to bear and rear children differentiated. The problem as between men and women, even if it Could be shown that the physical and psychological effects of the narcotic were the same in the case of both, was a proposition which seemed to be contradicted by facts.
