CATTLE SELL STEADILY.

Steady selling was the keynote of the sale in the fat cattle section at yesterday’s sale at Stortford Lodge,, when a smaller entry of improved quality was offered. Bullocks sold firmly throughout the sale at late rates, while cow and heifers made im-* proved prices at the commencement, coming back to parity values in the closing stages. Store cattle were few and sold at unchanged rates. Fat sheep were in shorter supply and of better quality generally, and values in consequence rose, ewes appreciating 1/ to 1/6 for butchers’ sorts. Wethers and lambs were firm at late rates. Store sheep were penned in greater numbers, the quality being rather mixed. Breeding ewes were, variable, lower prices obtaining. Hoggets sold well at slightly improved rates.
Fat Cattle.—Bullocks, medium to prime, heavy, £8 12/6 to £lO 18/; others, from £6 13/; cows, medium to prime, heavy. £5 5/ to £65/; others, from £4; heifers, medium to prime, heavy, £5 10/ to £7 15/; others, from £3 i 5/. . Fat Sheep.—Ewes, medium to prime, 15/6 to 22/; others, from 13/6; wethers, to 23/; lambs, to 22/. Store Sheep.—Ewes, 2-tooth, to 25/; four and 5-year, to 24/; wether hoggets, to 19/4; wethers, to 20/.
