TABLE TENNIS

; NORTHERN INVADERS WHANGAREI AHEAD ON POINTS. > - 110 GAMES TO 66. Twelve men and four ladies came from the Far North on Saturday to show their skill at flicking the little celluloid ball over the net. Their opponents at the Castilian Hall in the evening were the members of the Whangarei Table Tennis Club, and in four hours 176 games were played. The Northerners annexed 66 of these, and the locals, in familiar surroundings, gained 110. ' The major portion of the visitors represented the Takahue Club, but L. Foster, top man at Kaiaka-Fairburn, and L. White, of .Kaitaia, gave the side a Mangonui representative flavour. The most successful of the Takahue men was N. Rogers, with nine games. M. Howell was next but generally the opposition provided by Chissell and company was too strong. The Whangaref champion was again unbeaten. In the B section, Whangarei found A.

Rogers and M. Wallace hard to beat, ' and the most meritorious performances came from Mrs Baigent, Tait, Price, Mrs Price and Mrs Ormandy. A sumptuous Supper made available by the members of the club was partaken of, and at the conclusion of play Mr M. M. Baigent announced the results. His remarks were responded to by Mr M. Wallace on behalf of the visitors. Details were as follows (visitors being mentioned first in each instance) . A Grade.
