DEMAND FOR LAMBS
IMPROVEMENT AT SMITHFIELD. The Bank of New Zealand has received the following advice from its London office at the close of business last week:—Wethers: The demand is improving; light 3|d to 4gd per lb, heavy 3|d to 3|d. Ewes: Weaker values ruling, owing to lack of demand; 2d to 2£d. Lambs: The market is firm and there is a good demand; twos 7d to 7£d, eights 7d to 7|d, fours 6|d to 7d, seconds 6d to 6£d.
