GANGSTER FEUD
ASSOCIATE MURDERED TWELVE BULLET WOUNDS. CONTROL JEALOUSY. [United Press Association —By Electric ■ Telegraph. — Copyright.! CHICAGO, July 18. Louis (“Two Gun”) Alterie, one of the few survivors of the prominent gangsters of the prohibition decade, was murdered today by .gunmen who had hidden in a building across the street from his home. Since the repeal of prohibition all three had been active in the affairs of the powerful union of theatre janitors, and it is believed that a rival gaftgster killed him in an effort to gain control of the organisation. It was the daily custom of Mrs Alterie to drive her husband to his office, but today she was delayed for a few minutes in the foyer of her apartment building. She heard a hurst -of gunfire and rushed out to the street, where she found her husband wounded. He died on the way to hospital, 12 bullets having pierced iiis body. The police' found that a room across the street "'had been occupied by two men for a fortnight. Apparently they had been watching an opportunity to kill their victim.
A high-powered rifle and a score of discharged cartridges were found. Both men escaped.
