SYDNEY’S SHIPPING YEAR
TRAFFIC SHOWS 22 PER CENT INCREASE. (Received 10 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. The volume of shipping which entered the port of Sydney during the year ended June 30 last was the highest in the history of the port. Imports increased considerably. The impiovement in the volume of trade is reflected in the wharfage revenue derived. Although the rates have not been altered, the increase in revenuefrom oversea trade amounted to 22 per cent over the previous year. An analysis of the official record of the Sydney Harbour Trust reveals that the tonnage of shipping that entered Sydney last year was 17,586,164, which exceeded the figure of 1927. the previous record year, by 1,059,366
