NAZIS’ POLICY.
(Received 11 a.m.) BERLIN, July 19,
As the result of recent anti-Semitic riots in Berlin, Admiral von Levetzow, chief of police in the city, has resigned, Count von Helldorf succeeding him, A communique announces that the police will further co-operate with the Nazis to defeat Communists’ subversive activities- and reactionary movements, and Bolshevist and Jewish. arrogance. Count Helldorf was sentenced to six months’ gaol in 1931 for attacking and insulting Jews in Berlin.
Fresh anti-Jewish disturbances have occurred in Berlin West End. Crowds paraded the streets, shouting “Down with the Jews!” Several Jews were dragged from cafes and beaten. Police, however, arrested the assailants in spite of the crowd’s hostility.
