AT DANNEVIRKE. GREAT ENTHUSIASM; LINK WITH DENMARK. [Per Press Association. — copyright.) DANNEVIRKE, This Day. Calling at Dannevirke in the course of their tour of Southern Hawke’s Bay, the Governor-General and Viscountess Galway were accorded a civic reception at the Town Hall, which was used for the first time since the earthquake 16 months ago. The building was crowded and there was a big overflow. An address of welcome on behalf of the Borough and Dannevirke County was read by the Mayor, Mr £. Gibbard, and Sir Alfred Ransom, acting Prime Minister, and the member for the district supplemented the official welcome, referring to the changes in the district since the advent of the first Danish settlers some 70 years ago.
Lady Ransom and the Mayoress and members of the Borough and . County Councils and their wives were on the platform. Lord Galway spoke of the King’s interest in the Dominion and made a graceful reference to Denmark’s close association with Britain through her conneption with Britain’s Royal Family. The Dannevirke High School Cadets formed a guard of honour. HAWKE’S BAY TOUR ENDS. CORDIAL RECEPTIONS. [Per Press Association.— Copyright.! WAIPUKURAU, This Day. The Governor-General, Viscount Galway and Lady Galway, following upon their visit to Hastings, arrived at Waipawa at mid-day yesterday and were welcomed cordially by a l/.rge assemblage. an address being presented by the Mayor, Mr G. C. E. Harker. The Vice-Regal party subsequently capne on to Waipukurau, where another warm reception was accorded. The Mayor. Mr I. W. N. Mackie, presented an address. A brief call at the Pukeora'Sanatorium completed the Hawke’s Bay visit.
