The following report on the Frankton stock sale, held yesterday, 'is supplied by the Farmers’ Co-op. Auctioneering Co., Ltd: At Frankton yesterday there was a small yarding of fat sheep, wethers being again hard to quit. Fat ewes, however, were in better demand. A fair supply of lambs came forward, and they sold at prices well above schedule rates. There was again a good supply of quality calves, for which keen competition existed, and values showed a firming tendency. Ox beef was in good supply, the top price of £9 10/ being obtained for one line of bullocks. Competition was keener in this section than last week, with prices showing a firming tendency. Cow and beef was also yarded in good numbers, the quality in most cases showing an improvement. Competition was brisker, and a good sale resulted. One pen of prime Polled Angus heifers averaged £6 2/. In the dairy cattle section there was a better demand for heifers close to profit, while poorer sorts and late calves were hard to dispose of. There was only a small yarding of pigs, with porkers in demad, A medium of store and weaners was offered, consisting mostly of a class of store pigs, for which competition was not quite as keen as at last sale. The following prices were realised: Sheep.—Medium fat wethers, 21/ to 22/6; unfinished, 19/3 to 20/6; heavy fat ewes, to 19/; medium, 16/ to 16/6; extra heavy prime lambs, 23/b to 24/; heavy, 20/6 to 22/; medium, 18/6 f to 20/; light, 16/6 to 17/9; killable, 15/ to 16/. ■ „ . ; Cattle.—Heavy prime steers, £9 to £9 10/; medium, £8 to £8 18/; unfinished, £6 16/ to £7 9/; medium runners, £3 11/ to £3 17/; heavy vealers, £2 18/ to £3 3/; medium, £2 2/ to £2 16/; light, 32/ to 40/; small calves, 11/ to 17/6; Polled Angus heifers, £62/; heavy prime cows, £5 15/ to £6 2/6; medium, £4 18/ to £5 7/; light, £3 14/ to £4 5 /y prime heavy heifers, £5 13/ to £66/; medium, £3 10 to £4 5/; light, £2 10/ to £3 1/; killable cows, 38/ to 50/; heavy boners, 30/ to 35/; light, 18/ to 26/ ( good store cows, 35/ to 52/; good Shorthorn steer calves, 55/; good Jersey heifer calves, 40/; others, 21/ to 33/. Dairy Cattle.—Jersey heifers, close to profit, £4 7/6 to £5 10/; poorer •sorts and late calvers, £2 17/6 to *£3 5/; Jersey dairy cows, £2 15/ to £3 10/; others, to £2 10/. Pigs.—Baconers, to 58/; heavy porkers, 40/ to 45/; medium, 34/ to 39/; light, 28/ to 32/; good stores, 20/ to 26/; smaller, 18/ to 19/6; good slips, 15/ to 17/6; others, 11/ to 14/6; weaners, .8/ to 10/6.
