WIMBLEDON TENNIS

BRITISH TITLES AUSTRALIANS DO WELL. ONE NEW ZEALANDER LEFT IN. lUnited Press Association—By Electric Telegraph. — Copyright. ] (Received 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, June 2G. The weather was tine and warm for the third day of the British lawn tennis championships at Wimbledon. Crawford, from the back of the court, easily vanquished Kirby (Sc. Africa). The Australian was driving powerfully and accurately. Elmer (Switzerland) had the worse of long driving duels with Quist. McGrath won with surprising ease against so aggressive a player as Tuckey, the Army champion. The Hopman-Stedman engagement was anyone’s until the third set was completed. Hopman found Stedmans forehand more severe than he imagined, and the New Zealander had the Australian doing most of the running. Stedman smashed severely, but Hopman awaited his opportunity to slice and hand-chop to gain the net. Borotra gave Menzel a fright. Borotra led several times in the final set, but Menzel managed to win after 20 games had been played in the fifth set.
