INCITEMENT BILL
OMINOUS RUMOUR; COUP CONTEMPLATED. (Received 9 a.m.) LONDON, November 8. During the committee stage of the House of Lords on the Incitement to Disaffection Bill. Lord Allen said it recently came,, to his knowledge, from, a source ho had no reason to doubt, that there was some kind of movement afloat in Britain to seize 8.8. C. buildings and bring about a coup d’etat similar to the one prepared in Vienna. In an interview with a representatives of the “Daily Herald.” Lord Allen refused to say whether the plan came from the Right or the Left, but said it was seriously discussed by one of the parties which believed -in unconstitutional action. He did not think the plans had progressed beyond the contemplation stage. The House of Lords spent nearly 12 hours discussing-the bill. There were numerous divisions on Socialist amendments, all of which were defeated, The committee stage was completed at 4.12 a.m.
