' The Race for the Cup. The New Zealand Cup was a good race till three furlongs from home, after which it resolved into a procession, Silver De Oro broke badly at the start, and took no part in me race. Rollo also broke, but quickly recovered. Sunny Morn led out from Blue Mountain, Mountain Dell, Impromptu, Sir Guy and Indianapolis, but after six furlongs Mountain Dell joined Sunny Morn, with Blue Mountain . and Indianapolis next. Then came Impromptu and Rollo, while the whole field was closely bunched at this stage. There was not much change until half a mile.from home,} when Sunny Morn got out. Indian- | apolis then joined Mountain Dell in the lead, and after a furlong further on shot to the front, Blue Mountain soon taking second place, with Harold Logan third. Then came Roi TOr, after whom Impromptu was prominent. They ran like .this to the straight, with gaps between them. Blue Mountain challenged strongly, but Indianapolis stalled him off by a length. Harold Logan was three lengths away with two lengths to Roi I’Or, who beat Impromptu by a head, with Lindbergh, Sir Guy and Sunny Morn next. Red Shadow ran a bad race, and never looked dangerous. The performance of Indianapolis was that of a high-class horse. He has been under a cloud lately on account of a burst foot, which gave, so much trouble overnight and on the morning of the race that doubts were expressed if he would be able to start. The result proved he was all his admirers claimed. His time, 4.15 4-5, was a woi’ld’s < winning race record, while Harold Logan, 4.12 2-5, put up the fastest two miles ever seen at Addington.
