THE BOARD’S REPORT.
The New Zealand Dairy Produce Board has received the following market report irom its London office, dated November 2: Butter. —New Zealand; Salted, 71/ to 73/ (last week, 69/ to 71/); unsalted, 76/ to 78/ (last week, 74/ to 78/). Deliveries, New Zealand, 2470 tons (last year, 1812 tons); in store, 6898 tons, includes 1755 tons Port Gisborne (last year, 3350 tons). Australian, salted, 71/ to 73/; unsalted, 72/ to 73/. Deliveries, Australian, 1334 tons; in store, 2886 tons. Danish, 103/ f.0.b., 124/ spot. Dutch, unsalted, 76/ to 82/. Estonian, salted and unsalted, 68/ to 70/. Latvian, salted and unsalted, 68/ to 70/. Lithuanian, salted, 68/ to 71/; unsalted, 68/ to 74/. Siberian, salted, 66/ to 67/, Ukrainian, salted, 65/ to 66/. The market is firm. Retail prices are unchanged; Danish, 1/2; New Zealand, 9d. The Imperial Economic Committee’s estimate of stocks of all butters in store, 1,066,594 boxes (last year, 630,209). Cheese.—New Zealand, white and coloured, 53/6 to 54/ (last week, 51/6 to 52/, 50/ to 51/). Deliveries, New Zealand, 18,439 crates (last year, 15,741 crates); in store, 89,508 crates (last year, 56,912 crates). Australian, white, 52/ to 53/; coloured, ' 52/ to 52/6. Canadian, 52/ to 54/; c.i.f., 50/ to 52/; old season’s white, 62/ to 68/; coloured, 62/. Deliveries, Canadian, 13,215 boxes; in store, 117,534 boxes. The market is steady. New Zealand retail price, unchanged, 7d. The board has also received the following advice from its agents in Canada:—Butter: New York, 28& cents; Montreal, 19£ cents. Canadian stocks, 6199 tons (last year, 4365 tons). Cheese gradings for week ended October 27 were: White, 29,979 crates; coloured, 16,668 crates.
FORWARD SALE
OUTLOOK FAVOURABLE. [Special to “Northern Advocate.”] NEW PLYMOUTH, This Day. The upward trend of butter prices is expected to continue on the London market until well into the New Year. Recent transactions in the, Taranaki Province by way of forward buying involve a sum of £30,000, One agency reports having effected sales of butter totalling between 8000 and 9000 boxes for shipment in November and December at B|d per lb, equivalent to London parity of 77/ to 78/. The butter disposed of is from North Taranaki factories. Fairly large quantities of cheese from both North and South Taranaki have been sold for November and December shipments at rates slightly less than the latest London quotations. One parcel was sold at s§d per lb, equivalent to 49/ to 50/ f.0.b., while there have been numerous sales at s*d. MERCHANTS’ CABLES. FIRMER MARKETS. UPWARD TREND. [Special to “Northern Advocate.’’] AUCKLAND, This Day. Mr C. R. Spragg, from Bannatyne and Co., Liverpool, dated November 3:—Butter: The week-end market is firmer. We are trying for 75/. Mr H. S. Withers, from A. C. Rowson:—Butter: Finest, 73/; first grade, 72/. The demand is good, and the market has a rising tendency. Cheese: White and coloured, 54/. There is a good demand, and the market has an upward trend. Messrs. Joseph Nathan & Company, Ltd., have received a cable from London, dated November 3, reading as follows:—New Zealand butter, finest, 74/ per cwt.; first grade, 72/ to 73/. Market active. New Zealand cheese, white and coloured, 53/6 to 54/. Market firm.
