The French Rugby League football team at present touring England was defeated today by York by 26 points to 17.

RESULT OF FINAL MATCH.
SYDNEY, September 16,
In the final match under the auspices of the New South Wales Rugby Union yesterday, Randwidk defeated Manly by 13 points to 12. It was a tremendously fast and hard game.
BAT AND BALL. CHAMPIONS v. THE REST. ’ LEYLAND SCORES 182. (Received 9 a.m.) LONDON, September 15. In cricket match, Champions versus me Rest, the champion county, Lancashire, in the first innings made 206 runs (Duckworth 69). Bowes took 4 wickets for 73 runs and Verity 4 for 50.
The Rest made 385 runs for 9 wickets (Walters 79, Leyland 182).
GOLF TITLES
LITTLE’S DOUBLE FEAT. D. SHUTE WINS OPEN. (Received 9 a.m.) NEW YORK, September 15. The winner of the British amateur golf title, W. L. Little, added the American amateur championship to his list of achievements today by defeating Goldman, 8 and 7, at Bi-ook-lyn. D. Shute won the Riverdale open tournament with a score of 283. La (Toon tied for sixth place with 296. and Wood ‘was seventh with 297.

TRIBUTE TO LOVELOCK

J. E. Lovelock (N.Z.) will compete in the athletic* championship meeting in Norway; which has been named the the Lovelock Meeting, on account of Lovelock's great popularity. Horsfall will compote in the sprints and the long jump, 1500 metres. —Lovelock 1, Lie (Norway) 2. Time, 3.57 3-10. 100 metres,—Stranberg (Sweden) 1, Horsfall 2. Time, 10 4-ss.
WRESTLING.
V BOUTS IN SYDNEY. SYDNEY. September 16. At the Sydney Stadium last evening, in a wrestling bout, Dan Koloff, the giant Bulgarian, defeated the Japanese. Old Shikina. in the third round, after only 15 minutes of actual wrestling, by two falls to nil. The Japanese was unable to continue. Tom Lurich defeated Joe Dawson by two falls to one in a wrestling match at the Leichardt Stadium.

The semi-finals of the South England tennis championship, played at Eastbourne, resulted:— Men’s singles.—Sharpe defeated Andrews, 6—3. 6—3; Round defeated King, 6—4, 6—l. Men’s doubles. —Hare and Ridley defeated Andrews and Heeley, 6 —4, 12—G. 6—4.
