TERRIBLE SUFFERINGS
IN HIMALYAN ICE CAVE CLIMBING ..PARTY MAROONED (Received 9 a.m.) CALCUTTA, September 14.. To be ‘marooned for eight days in an ice cave on a Himalyan peak at an altitude of 22,000 feet during terrific blizzards, was the experience of; ,14 members of the Karakoram International Expedition, which includes German, Swiss, Italian, Austrian and American members. Frau Dyrhenfurth, wife of Professor Dyrhenfurth, the leader of the party, has returned to Srinagar. She is a famous flier and has reached a height of 24,700 feet, which is higher than any other woman has flown. She states that the party suffered terribly from the cold. She could not see for three daj r s owing to snow blindness. <
