INSURANCES STRONG. (Special to “Northern Advocate."') AUCKLAND, This Day. Auckland Stock Exchange had rather a. quiet opening this morning and mily a few sales were put through. Government stocks were again in request at late rates and two parcels of oil’s were on offer, one of .‘IS —43 at £7.08 and one of 38 —52 at £.IOB a/. In the hanking section, 'Commercials were firm between 15/7 and 15/0. New Zealand’s jwere in demand at £2 0/, and Reserve Banks at £0 5/. The insurance section was strong, South British being in demand at 1 SI/, and New Zealands were quoted, ex dividend, with buyers at 01/ and sellers at 02/0, In the mining division, Waihis dropped hack, and a sale was effected at 31/, after which the line was quoted at 30/0 to 31/3. Gillespie’s Beach were firm between 2/1 and 2/3,
NOON CALL. Following sales were recorded at the noon call: —Union Oil, £1 10/; Reserve Bank, £6 5/9; Gillespie’s Beach, 2/3. <fUnlisted: Woolworths (Sydney) ord., £3 11/.
